I will begin this post with saying right up front, I use AI. As a tool. To help with my business, to assist me in social media posts, to keep me on the correct train of thought.
I do not use AI to create my cards, planners and organizers. I want to be as honest as I can with this post. With the rapidly changing world of AI, Chat GPT and all the others, I feel concerned about the pressure of perfection for those just starting out in the crafting world. Those of us who have been in the game long enough to recognize what is fake and what is real.
I came across a video one day of a beautiful card and thought to myself, "this has to be AI."
I was able to recognize it for what it was but what about crafters who do not know? How can they tell what is true and what is not? I felt sad and disappointed.
If I were a brand new card maker just starting out, I would feel intimidated and maybe give up too easily. I am here to tell you that you can make such beautiful creations without the use of AI or any other program, You do not have to seek perfection!
When I film my videos, sometimes things can go sideways fairly quickly and I often choose to leave those bloopers in so others can see I am a real person. I make mistakes and blunders.
I have learned so much in the past 14 years of card making. I have felt every kind of emotion. That's ok. It's all a part of the process. Art is so much more than putting pretty papers and images together. It is about creating something beautiful that you can enjoy and be proud of, no matter what your skill level.
So get out those papers, use that gorgeous ribbon and do not, I repeat, DO NOT be scared to make mistakes. I do it all the time! those mistakes can turn into some of the most important lessons you will ever learn about yourself.
Be kind to yourself and don't seek out perfection,
Be yourself and people will want to share in your joy for crafting!
